For the second time in two days, the boys’ soccer team took to the pitch against the Chattooga Indians. A 3-0 win on Monday night had the Wolverines primed to sweep the visitors, but it was the Indians who struck first on Tuesday night. After going down 1-0 in the opening minutes of play, the Wolverines struggled to find a foothold in the match. Just before half, however, the hometown boys found the goal they needed when Josh Tinker fizzed a cross through the six yard box and Micah Evearitt hammered home. The score remained 1-1 at half, the Wolverines using the halftime minutes to reorganize, reshape, and respond. The response was resounding. The boys quickly found their game in the second half and earned the edge with a Sam Kimball rocket that Josh Tinker nodded in for two. The Wolverines promptly tacked on a third when Leonard Riby slotted through to Chandler Bailey to ripple the net. Bailey nearly claimed a second with a high looping ball in the box that eventually took a Chattooga deflection to register an own goal and bring the tally to 4-1. Paul Phillips, Sam Kimball, Jack Dupree, and keeper Grant Moore again put on an impressive defensive display and were supported with high-flying flank play from Danny Darby, Micah Evearitt, Drake Dupree, and Blake Henley. The Wolverines host Fannin High School on Thursday evening for “Senior Night”. C’mon you Wolverines!
