Four hits from Kristen Fowler helped lead the way for Dade County Wolverines Varsity over Murray County 9-5 on Monday. Fowler singled in the third, doubled in the fourth, singled in the sixth, and doubled in the seventh. Murray County scored five runs in the first inning, but Dade County Wolverines Varsity still managed to pull out the victory. Morgan, Langley, Swanson, O’Neal, and Green all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Murray County got things moving in the first inning. Morgan drove in one when she singled. Dade County Wolverines Varsity pulled away for good with six runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Harli Crabtree doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Kami Counts doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs, Fowler doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs, and Michaela Massey singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Counts was the winning pitcher for Dade County Wolverines Varsity. She lasted seven innings, allowing ten hits and five runs while striking out one. Stanley took the loss for Murray County. She surrendered three runs on seven hits over three innings, striking out one and walking one. Dade County Wolverines Varsity scattered 18 hits in the game. Fowler, Heidi Raines, Ali Thompson, Crabtree, Massey, and Counts each managed multiple hits for Dade County Wolverines Varsity. Fowler went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Dade County Wolverines Varsity in hits. Dade County Wolverines Varsity was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Kaitlyn Stinnett made the most plays with seven.
Murray County racked up ten hits in the game. Swanson, Morgan, and Usrey each had multiple hits for Murray County.
