Congratulations to the Players of the Week for Week #8 at Coosa. Our team put up a good fight, unfortunately coming up short once again losing 24-21. A late field goal in the fourth quarter by Coosa put the game away. We still want to recognize a few stellar individual performances by our Wolverines.
First of all, junior wide receiver Brodie Swader and senior wide receiver Noah Martin are your Co-Offensive Players of the Week. Brodie and Noah both had 4 catches for more than 80 yards. Noah had some key third down catches that kept scoring drives alive. He averaged 20.8 yards per reception. Brodie also had four catches, averaging 20.5 yards per catch. He added two receiving TDs and one rushing TD. Of the 278 total yards of offense, 165 of those yards came between these two wideouts.
Defensive Player of the Week honors go to junior LB Cody Williams. Cody finished the game with 18 total tackles. Thirteen of those tackles were solo. Cody has been consistent all year long on the defensive side of the ball. He leads all tacklers on defense with 71 total tackles on the season. One thing is for sure, if you come to Cody Williams side of the field, he’s going to make you earn every yard.
Rounding out the honors for Players of the Week is sophomore lineman Lucas Costley. Normally, Lucas is a staple on the defensive line, however, due to injuries, Lucas was asked to play both sides of the ball serving Friday night as the offensive guard. Lucas graded out at 84% on defense while collecting 4 tackles, and he pulled double duty playing offensive guard. Lucas Costley is your Lineman of the Week.
Next week the Wolverines return home to take on Region 7AA opponent Gordon Central. Both teams are still in contention for the playoffs. This is a must win for Dade County! So, Wolverine nation come help them pull it off by showing your support. The weather is going to be perfect for football this Friday!
