While there was talk of a storm brewing in the south, there was also one coming from the north. To be specific, it originated in a small town in NW Georgia called Trenton. The Lady Wolverines Volleyball team left Friday for Thomasville HS, the host of the first and second round of the GHSA state playoffs. Fortunately, the storm from the gulf didn’t have any effect on the game, but the Lady Wolverines sure did. In the first round, Dade County competed against McNair. The Lady Wolverines won three consecutive (25-16, 25-9, 25-17) to eliminate McNair in the best-of-five series. GHSA allows the teams that advance to go ahead and play the Sweet 16 round if the two teams agree. Dade County took on the host team, Thomasville, the number one seed, in the second round. The Lady Wolverines once again won three consecutive games (25-17, 25-14, 25-23) to eliminate Thomasville. Yes they did.
Congratulations to the Dade County Lady Wolverines for advancing to the Elite 8 for the first time in school history. Dade County will travel to Rabun County next Saturday, October 26th to compete in the third round of the GHSA State Playoffs. Great job ladies!!!
