Wolverines News · DCHS Student-Athletes Giving Back

Over 40 of the DCHS football players, baseball players, and cheerleaders were recently given the opportunity to give back to the community by adopting a less fortunate child for Christmas. The night began with a meal at Buffalo Wild Wings, followed by shopping trips to Hamilton Place Mall and Wal-Mart. Tons of gifts were bought for the children in the form of clothes, shoes, jackets, and toys. Many of the student-athletes took on the mantle of “deal finder” to make their money stretch as far as possible. Accompanying them were Coach Warren, Coach Swader, Coach Brown, Coach Goff, and Coach Hurst.

“It was like a mad dash,” said Coach Goff. “As soon as the students were given their amount of money, they disappeared in a flash and showed back up with bags full of gifts.”

The night proved to be successful and the students were able to turn about five hours into many satisfied faces, knowing they did a good thing. The gifts, all boxed and wrapped, will be delivered on Wednesday, December 20th to both Davis and Dade Elementary Schools.

Other sports teams that adopted children for Christmas were Boys and Girls Basketball and Volleyball.
