Dade County High School
The Wolverine Baseball team competed in the Yellow Jacket Classic this past weekend playing four TN teams. The Wolverines extended their winning streak to 11 games with a win over Red Bank by a score of 16-3. Jordan Heath was the winning pitcher. The second game was a very competitive game with Silverdale Baptist Academy. The teams were tied after seven and were allowing to play only one extra inning because of tournament rules. Silverdale took the lead in the eighth inning and Dade County was defeated 2-1 for the first time in twelve games. Harley Walker threw seven innings striking out three and allowing only three hits. Friday night, Dade took on Franklin Road Academy. The teams were tied 4-4 after six innings. FRA grabbed the lead on a two-out double on a 3-2 pitch count in the top of the 7th. The Wolverines were defeated by a score of 9-6. All-Tournament Selection, Coby McBryar, finished the night 3-for-3 with two two-run homeruns. The first homeruns of his career at Dade. The Wolverines finished up the Yellow Jacket Classic with a strong performance behind pitcher Seth Swader against the host team, Lookout Valley. Dade won the game 17-0 in four innings. The team is hoping to carry their momentum from this tournament win into this week’s BIG region game versus Chattooga. The Wolverines are playing for an opportunity to host a first round playoff series when the GA state playoffs begin on April 28th.
