Game Recap

In the first region contest of the year, the Lady Wolverines came away with a huge win, despite some adversity. Dade County took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but four costly errors and two big hits from Darlington left the Lady Wolverines down 4-2 in the bottom of the 7th. Sydney Poston led off the inning with a single. Zoie Moore moved her into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt, which allowed Carri Pierce to score Poston with an RBI stand-up triple. With two outs, Haley Keesler stepped into the box and hit an RBI double to tie the game.

International tie-breaker set in and the Lady Wolverines were huge in the top of the 8th to keep the Lady Tigers from scoring. In the bottom of the 8th, Dade County loaded the bases but ended up hitting into a double play to end the inning without a score. In the top of the 9th, an infield single put Darlington ahead 5-4. In the bottom of the 9th, Stephanie Hernandez started out as the runner on 2nd base. Carri Pierce led off the inning with a bunt single to move Hernandez to third. Cassie Higdon then came up and drew a walk. With the bases loaded, Keesler came up huge with a game winning 2 RBI walk off double.

Zoie Moore pitched the complete, 9 inning game. She allowed 7 hits and had 3 strikeouts on the day.

The Lady Wolverines are now 5-3 overall and 1-0 in region play.
